I searched for a while for a replacement, trying to find the features I had grown accustomed to, like a digital display, automatic programming to "warm" setting once finished cooking, and at least 5 quarts since I enjoy cooking (and having leftovers).The Calphalon 7-Quart Digital Slow Cooker was still very new on the market when I was scouring the web for reviews. One or two sites featured this slow cooker (people who were lucky to get one from Calphalon to review) and I saw their feedback was positive. Despite only seeing very few reviews, I felt with the strong Calphalon reputation and its modern design, this slow cooker would be a good fit -- after a few months of use, I can say it's been a joy to use, easy to clean and seems to heat up very quickly. Enough said.We first bought a All-Clad from a local store, but then returned it and ordered this slow cooker from Amazon. Not only it costs about half of the All clad, it is much better performing and simpler to operate. My wife uses it without reading the instruction! The only difference between the Caphalon and the All clad is you could put the All Clad pan into the oven for warming, while this feature is not available with the Caphalon. Other than that, they are the same in every aspect. There is 2 settings: Low and High that come with preset time intervals. You can change it, up or down with buttons provided. That's it. It's so simple. I make soups that I can freeze for my elderly mother and young daughter with no problem. When I want to make a turkey breast or large pot roasts I've almost had to cram things in. I now can make these with no problem with this large crock pot. I am impressed with the size and quality build of this unit I can't wait to use the auto feature on this mega crock pot. |
