I have seen and tried many slow cookers, and this is the only one that cooks just the way it 'should'. Not overcooked or undercooked (having a good recipe book helps too), whatever I put in this pot comes out just the right flavor and consistency, without all that 'burnt on' food I kept getting with any other slow cooker I tried. The Tostess does not try to be a griddle or deep fryer or braising pan. If you want to brown your pot roast first you have to get out a frying pan. That's probably why it works so well.I have owned and used about a dozen slow cookers in the last 50 years. This one works best. It has bands of heating elements on the sides, not on the bottom, and a thick crockery pot. These make it heat up quite slowly...but very evenly too. The timer lets you plan things perfectly in advance. This model 570 (and the identical but for the handles 569) are on my short list of appliances that really work.
